KAUPAPA MĀORI ANTENATAL EDUCATION
Huria Trust offers a unique and extremely important Kaupapa Māori Antenatal programme known as 'Hei Tiki Pumau'. The programme focuses on improving health outcomes for māmā hapū (pregnant women) and their whānau.
To provide education based around breastfeeding, safe sleeping, dental, immunisation, and other aspects identified as important to your hapūtanga (pregnancy).
Delivery is based on mutually agreed days of the week, over 2.5 days - a total duration of 12-15 hours of engagement in the programme.
Subject to change and tailored to meet the need of the māmā (mother)
Hapū (pregnant) women, expectant fathers/partners, parents of new babies including adoptive parents and, where appropriate, their whānau.
This service is available for all expectant parents but focuses on meeting the needs of first time parents and groups with high needs.
Huria Trust are flexible and mobile as to an agreed delivery site for the programme - usually held at Huria Trust or Huria Marae.
